Global Management Challenge

It consists of an interactive business simulation in which each team manages a company with the aim of obtaining the best investment performance for your company in the market in which it operates.
When taking top management decisions, participants go through the analysis of economic/financial indicators, gain a broader and strategic view of a company, understand the interaction between different functional areas, and the impact their decisions can have on an organization, considering the constraints of the competitive market and aiming for maximum customer and shareholder satisfaction.

Luís Mira Amaral

About Jury

Luís Fernando de Mira Amaral

Electrical Engineer (IST-1969), Master in Economics from NOVASBE (1983), Post- Graduate in General Management from Stanford University (2000), and in Banking Management from INSEAD (2001). He also attended the Non-Executive Directors Course at IPCG (20018).

He has managed various companies in the industrial, energy, and technological sectors, served as Executive President of several banks in Portugal, Angola, and Mozambique, and been a member of the Supervisory Board of Lankhorst-Euronete Group (Netherlands) and Chairman of BYND VENTURE CAPITAL SCR SA.

He was the Minister of Labor and Social Security (1985-87) and Minister of Industry and Energy (1987-95).

He was a Professor of Electricity Production and Transport at IST, an Associate Professor of Industrial Economics at NOVASBE, and a Visiting Full Professor of Economics and Management at DEG/IST.

Current Roles

Consultant at FNWAY CONSULTING in Research, Technological Development, and Innovation projects for companies and business associations. Member of the Advisory Board of Savannah Portugal. Member of the Advisory Board of Leadership Business Consulting. Economics and Management Professor at Tecnico+ – Institute for Executive Education of IST.

José Figueiredo

Electrical Engineer, MBA, PhD in Industrial Engineering (IST). Founder of two companies in the field of information technologies, consultant in project management and socio-technical approaches to system design. Was a member of the Pedagogical Council of IST and part of the Management Team of the Research Center in Engineering and Management of IST (CEGIST). Currently retired, he is engaged in postgraduate specialization courses in Project Management and is highly active in Ethics and Engineering Education.

Electrical Engineer (Higher Technical Institute, Lisbon), Business Administrator Council Member of the Order of Engineers Portugal Among other positions, he held roles such as: Executive Administrator of the EDP Group Holding, Energias de Portugal; President of REN, National Electricity Grid; CEO of EDP Brazil; CEO of EDP Energy Production; Onitelecom; and Edinfor, Information Systems; Vice-Chairman of the Macau Power Company He was an Invited Assistant Professor at Instituto Superior Técnico. He holds post-graduate degrees in Corporate Governance (Insead), Business Management (IESE/AESE), Digital Transformation (Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics), and Talent Management (Nova School of Business & Economics).
